I use activated charcoal extensively but would like to see a reference or two. Thank you sincerely, Dr Frank Answer: Hello Dr Frank [caption id="attachment_260" align="alignright" width="300"]Activated Charcoal for snake bites Activated Charcoal for snake bites[/caption] Thank you for contacting us. While we have numerous testimonies of the use of activated charcoal (AC) for poisonous snake bites, actual studies are strangely missing. I do have one in my book for cobra venom. CharcoalRemedies.com The Complete Handbook p.122 In one experiment, one hundred times the lethal dose of Cobra venom was mixed with charcoal and injected into a laboratory animal. The animal was not harmed in the least. Boquet, A, Adsorption of cobra venom and diphtheria toxin by carbon, Comp. Rend. 187:959, 1928 (I am uncertain if this was plain or activated charcoal) If I find more references I will forward them on to you. If you come across any other references, I would appreciate if you send them to me. I see you have an interest in longevity (who doesn’t?) here is some interesting research. I recommend you get my book. It is very comprehensive including the historical and modern uses of AC. The book has an endorsement by Agatha Thrash MD (pathologist) – former medical examiner for the state of Georgia and great enthusiast of medicinal charcoal. “Charcoal has amazing healing properties. In fact, if I were stranded on a desert island and could take only one thing along to protect me from disease, infection, and injury, I would choose charcoal.” Make sure to also check out our blog post "Charcoal for Snake bites" Sincerely John Dinsley
