Just in case your furry family members imbibe or eat something festive and tasty that they should not have, be ready with Vet Dtox™ Activated Charcoal Powder. Chocolate is ubiquitous at this time of year, and dogs should not eat it!
Perhaps while all the feasting is going on, slip them a couple of Annie’s charcoal biscuits, a safe and sneaky way to get charcoal in them and to keep them merry! This of course works well for dogs; however, cats are not as impressed with the biscuits, although our outdoor cats really like them.
When I need to get the Vet Dtox™ in the tummy fast, I mix the Vet Dtox™ powder with water and administer it with a dropper. Mix 1/8 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of Vet Dtox™ powder, mix well and pour into a dropper bottle. If you do not have a funnel, a little paper dixie type cup works well, you can bend the paper cup to a fine point, and carefully pour in. Shake the capped bottle well and give more dropperfuls than you think necessary. Of course you can adjust the measurements for a larger animal, see the last article below on pet poisoning.
I always have some premade on hand, in the bottle with the dropper, so it is ready at a moment’s notice. I just keep it in the medicine cabinet; you do not need to refrigerate it. You should be able to find the empty tincture bottles at your local food co-op or natural food store, or of course online.
See the below articles on pet poisoning and be ready for possible emergencies, so that they are not emergencies at all, just a little annoyance that can be taken care of quickly with amazing charcoal:
