Activated Charcoal for Leaky Gut
Frank Writes In
I am re-learning charcoal usage. I have leaky gut. Most of the time I get sick after I eat. I am not on any medications. I think Detox 1600 will help? If so how much, how often can I take it? -Frank
Kimberly's Response to Leaky Gut and Using Activated Charcoal
Charcoal has been very helpful with those with leaky gut. I am not sure I can just jump right in and tell you how much you should take as each person is so unique and the necessary amount will vary.
Being that you are not on medications, you might want to start by taking a teaspoon of the Detox 1600 mixed in a small amount of warm water before you eat and immediately right afterwards. If that amount of charcoal does not keep your stomach at ease, than add more in increments of a ½ teaspoon at a time until it does the trick. Also, taking charcoal right before bedtime is extremely beneficial, as the charcoal will be adsorbing toxins while your body is naturally healing itself.
Another approach to easing your condition is to make a very moist charcoal poultice and place it over the stomach every night before retiring and simply remove it in the morning. This may bring great relief as well. Follow the link above to learn more on how to make a poultice.
We are so oriented to putting something in our mouth to bring instant relief to our discomfort, however, taking the time to make a charcoal poultice may well prove worth the effort, as activated charcoal can literally pull toxins from deep tissue. A charcoal poultice is an ideal, stand alone remedy for those that cannot take charcoal internally. Do Charcoal Poultices Really Work?
