E-coli, Activated Charcoal & Life's other little emergencies.
E coli, such as this last nasty strain found in the Romaine lettuce at our favorite grocery stores......
With the holidays upon us and an e coli scare just behind us, be sure to always have handy your activated charcoal in case of life’s little emergencies. When I am dining out and concerned about the food I am about to ingest, I take six
charcoal capsules just before I eat and six capsules immediately afterwards. This not only protects me from possible e coli but also adsorbs the MSG or some other dreaded excito-toxin that is famous for giving me nasty headaches. It works like a charm.
Taking the charcoal at the first signs of discomfort is wise and will oftentimes stop it right in its track.
E coli, such as this last nasty strain found in the Romaine lettuce at our favorite grocery stores, sometimes has a latent effect and you do not always
know where your stomach cramps and or violent diarrhea came from. Taking the charcoal at the first signs of discomfort is wise and will oftentimes stop it right in its track. It is difficult to say just how much a person should take, but if you just have capsules, then I would suggest several, for an adult, at least 8 -16. I personally would take a heaping tablespoon of the
Detox 1600 in lukewarm water in the event of serious diarrhea and I would continue to do so until it stopped.
When extreme diarrhea and vomiting is present, it is not uncommon to throw up the
charcoal slurry. If this happens, for most people, you can safely take retake the charcoal up to four times. It is also very helpful in these extreme cases to put a very moist
charcoal poultice over the abdomen and then lay down. With the charcoal on the outside and inside of the stomach, the charcoal can pull the toxins from both directions. This oftentimes will relax the body and induce sleep.
Of course, aside from the obvious of washing your fruits and veggies well, you can also
soak them for a few minutes in charcoal water. You can use any of our
food grade activated charcoal powders to do this, but the
hardwood is ideal as it washes off the easiest.
Please always remember that charcoal does not discriminate between poisons, so if you are on medications, it will most likely adsorb them and make them of none effect, be sure to consult your healthcare provider whenever attempting something new, such as the above.
We would love to hear your stories how charcoal has worked for your upset tummies and e coli symptoms.
Never leave home without activated charcoal!
