Do you Recommend Reactivating the Charcoal?

Hi Anne. We get this question a lot, not just about the activated charcoal material but charcoal in general, people want to know how they can reactivate it. Charcoal can be reactivated but only at extremely high temps generally around 600 degrees Celsius plus, or it can be chemically reactivated. There is a myth going around that you can reactivate charcoal by placing it in the sun, this simply is not true. Once the activated charcoal's surface area has been used up, you will just have to replace it, it cannot be reactivated by simply placing it in the sun or a hot oven, which is a good thing! Once activated charcoal has adsorbed a toxin or poison, be it your body, your water, the earth, it will not let it go, it will not recontaminate, unless it is forced to do so under extreme, usually controlled conditions. Were you aware that Activated Carbon Cloth (as Anne used in her medicinal cannabis bag) was originally invented by the British Ministry of Defense for inclusion in chemical warfare suits? Today it has been developed for use in many odor control situations including industrial, medical, and domestic applications. It continues to be used in HAZMAT suits and Nuclear Biological Chemical Radioactive (NBCR) suits for both warfare applications as well as domestic, commercial and industrial.
